That's so true. The have no plans to take guns away from criminals.

Especially the mayor and police chief of Chicago who having taking all the guns from law-abiding citizens, blames them for their ineptitude in keeping the murder rate down.

And as far as racisim goes, they both named this man as public enemy numero uno.

And he doesn't even live in Chicago.

IT'S VERY SIMPLE, REALLY
When sub machine guns were outlawed,* criminals stopped using them, stopped owning them, stopped transporting them in cars.
Why? Simply because they did not want to run the risk of going to prison FOR MERE POSSESSION.

In the last several decades, use of sub machine guns by criminals has been practically non existent.

In that sense, the federal government vert effectively TOOK sub machine guns from criminals.

Something similar will follow when military-style assault rifles are made illegal.**
____________
*Sub machine guns can be legally owned only if extremely strict federal and state requirements are met.

**This WILL eventually happen, imho, although it may take an even more horrible slaughter of innocents by some assault rifle wielding nutcase to bring it about.

"What was the National Cancer Institute (NCI) thinking when it decided to spend $678,952 to fund a notorious political activist to conduct a "scientific" research study designed to prove that the Tea Party was an invention of Big Tobacco and the Koch brothers, rather than a grassroots movement of disenfranchised Americans fed up with both the Republican and Democratic parties? Is the NCI so flush with taxpayer cash and so close to banishing cancer that it can indulge in petty partisan politics disguised as peer-reviewed science? Members of Congress on the hunt for ineffective discretionary spending programs to cut should take notice.

This tempest in a tea party pot was set off by a study released last week, "'To quarterback behind the scenes, third-party efforts': the tobacco industry and the Tea Party." Co-authored by anti-smoking zealot Stanton A. Glantz, the study focuses on identifying and demonizing the people, ideas, donors, and organizations loosely affiliated under the Tea Party banner by pointing to common themes that were also raised by the "smokers' rights" movement. The clear and unambiguous intent is both to besmirch the Tea Party by publicly associating it with an industry widely held in low repute and to recruit anti-smoking zealots to the anti-Tea Party cause.

Is this what "science" has been reduced to in the age of Obama? Is this what R&D "investments" are going to look like as the permanent campaign politicizes everything under the sun?"

The New Normal

When did 7.8% unemployment become the new normal? After 49 months above it? What happened to a “jobless recovery”?

Are we always to borrow $1 trillion a year? Will the national debt always rise, never decline? Did $4 a gallon gas become the new normal — a small price to pay for more windmills and solar panels?

Suddenly, college is not the pathway to the upper-middle class, but a risky 50/50 proposition that just as likely can lead to a $100,000 plus, 8% student loan debt, no job, and five years in the parents’ spare bedroom. Who ever objected to tuition climbing at twice the rate of inflation? One day there were sparse dorms, and the next rock-climbing walls; one day deans and provosts who at least taught one class, the next diversity czars with scores of assistants. The more kids can’t pay for college, the more college looks like Disney World.

The new America is a society where 50% pay federal income tax, and for 50% April 15 is an occasion for a tax refund or credit. I grew up with my parents dreading the date; now I see signs offering all sorts of “tax refund” sales. When did disability insurance merely become an extension of unemployment insurance?

There Is No Media

About four years ago, the media just dissipated. Gone, buried. Did we notice our newsreaders are virtual government employees? The media is a Ministry of Truth where spokespeople vie for superlatives — a living “god,” a man who creates tingles in our legs and is pictured as a “messiah” on our magazines. Each sermon is a new “Gettysburg Address,” each gesture is Lincoln’s, each new Joe Biden or Hillary Clinton part of the new Lincoln’s “Team of Rivals.”

Journalists are now Photoshoppers of news: Guantanamo once bad, now good; we all grew to stop worrying and to love Predators; renditions, the Patriot Act, and preventative detentions must have gone with George W. Goldstein.

Those noisy free-for-all press conferences are now like Xerxes’s court at Persepolis, where toadies compete with kowtows. “Investigative reporting” is how some reactionary, enemy-of-the-people hacks dig up dirt on a progressive like Sen. Menendez or Susan Rice. The video maker sitting in jail and the 16-year-old American who was vaporized were reactionary troublemakers — and that is all ye need to know.

Brave, New World

Panta rhei — “everything is in flux” — Heraclitus says. The world we knew is not the one we wake up to after a short nap. January 2009 now seems like a far-off dream, in a way that 2016 may be a nightmare.

Lol. Testing, one, two, three.

Are there any significant signs of intelligence here?

What I said was the truth. The right wing radio audience, and the talkers themselves, none of whom have to run for office or govern have become the face of the party. They exist for one reason, to sell advertising and make themselves rich.

More and more it is Rush and the others control the agenda. Not the elected officials. And they are universally negative. They feed off a small, in relative to the general population, of conservative, angry people, that absolutely hate Obama.

They have become the defacto face of the Republican party. This will not help the Republicans elect a President. And in fact make it less likely that they can. You cannot win national elections with this angry rhetoric.

So as I said as it went zooming over your heads, they are in fact one of the biggest assets of the Democratic party. If Rush had as much power as you think he has, then neither Bill Clinton or Barack Obama would have won.

To win the Republicans will need a candidate that generates a positive attitude. Not one who is angry, negative and too cowardly to stand up to the right wing entertainment industry and the hate it generates.

So yes, I think right wing radio has been a great asset FOR the Democrats.

As I noted earlier this week, the $85 billion figure that gets invoked is wrong; cuts in fiscal year 2013 will amount to $44 billion or about 1.2 percent of all federal spending. We've been hearing for a long time that sequestration alone would kill about 700,000 jobs.

That's a claim taken as gospel that is based on what can be called "ugly modeling" at best. Because virtually all government spending is counted by definition as adding to GDP, any cut thus means reductions in activity and jobs. Add to that the idea that projectionists routinely assign a multiplier of more than 1.00 to government spending, so that each dollar the feds spend magically creates more than $1 in economic activity.

The country's experience with recent stimulus spending should give pause to all of us (if it doesn't, watch this). When the stimulus manifestly failed to reduce unemployment by its own predictions, its architects and defenders in the press nonetheless pronounced it a success and claimed that it saved us from an ever bigger problem. The real problem, you see, was that the stimulus wasn't big enough. All it takes is a government failure for stimulatarians to channel their inner Andrea True.

Okay, Commensa, you just walked into it AGAIN.

There are NUMEROUS articles on how many people have been killed by sub machine guns in the past several decades since they were made practically impossible to legally own one. So give us backup to your stupid statement.

YOU CLAIM TO BE DEALING WITH FACTS, NOT MYTHS, SO BACK THAT UP.

You can't. I have looked into this more than once and know you can't.

And what was Commensa's answer? Did he produce one single shred of evidence, one single article saying that since sub machine guns were made illegal, criminals have been using them in large numbers IN CHICAGO or anywhere else IN OUR COUNTRY (where they are illegal)?

No. No, no, no.

The simple fact is, and it can be verified, there have been almost no instances of murder by -- or even illegal possession of -- sub machine guns by criminals.

Commensa walked right into it AGAIN and proved himself horribly wrong AGAIN.

Unable to produce articles himself, he challenges me to produce them.

I don't have to. Just google "deaths by illegal machine guns" and see what you get.

Among MANY other articles, you'll find this:
_______
Crime Involving Illegally Owned Machine Guns

Again in Targeting Guns, Kleck writes, four police officers were killed in the line of duty by machine guns from 1983 to 1992. (713 law enforcement officers were killed during that period, 651 with guns.)

In 1980, when Miami's homicide rate was at an all-time high, less than 1% of all homicides involved machine guns. (Miami was supposedly a "machine gun Mecca" and drug trafficking capital of the U.S.) Although there are no national figures to compare to, machine gun deaths were probably lower elsewhere. Kleck cites several examples:

Of 2,200 guns recovered by Minneapolis police (1987-1989), not one was fully automatic.

A total of 420 weapons, including 375 guns, were seized during drug warrant executions and arrests by the Metropolitan Area Narcotics Squad (Will and Grundie counties in the Chicago metropolitan area, 1980-1989). None of the guns was a machine gun.

16 of 2,359 (0.7%) of the guns seized in the Detroit area (1991-1992) in connection with "the investigation of narcotics trafficking operations" were machine guns.

Gee you should tell the police in brockton.

Assault rifles showing up in Brockton

BROCKTON —
They are military-grade guns – the gun of choice for many terrorist groups. They can fire up to 60 rounds per minute, and are meant for “destruction,” police said.
And they’re here.
State and Brockton police confiscated two AK-47-type weapons and a high-capacity magazine Tuesday night in a Brockton apartment.
Police come across weapons like these about once a month, said Lt. Paul Bonanca, and the gun’s potential to cause harm can’t be understated.
“You could spray a room (with bullets),” he said. “It’s not what we want to see here on the street.”

IT'S ACTUALLY THE REPUBLICANS WHO ARE OVERREACHING
Taegan Goddard, February 21,
I've argued before that President Obama is not overreaching on his ambitious second-term agenda because a severely divided Republican Party gives the president more flexibility that his re-election vote margin might otherwise allow.

And now, two new polls suggest it's the Republicans who are overreaching.

A USA Today/Pew Research poll finds President Obama "starts his second term with a clear upper hand over GOP leaders on issues from guns to immigration that are likely to dominate the year. On the legislation rated most urgent — cutting the budget deficit — EVEN A MAJORITY OF REPUBLICAN VOTERS endorse Obama's approach of seeking tax hikes as well as spending cuts."

Greg Sargent points out that on every one of the major issues facing Congress — with the exception of the proposed assault weapons ban — the GOP position is favored by roughly ONE-THIRD or FEWER Americans.

Meanwhile, a new Bloomberg poll finds President Obama enters the latest showdown with Congress with his HIGHEST JOB APPROVAL in three years while Republicans' popularity stands at a RECORD LOW.

More from Bloomberg: "Obama's positive standing with the public provides him with political leverage as Americans assess blame for any furloughs, disruption of government services or damage to the economy if the spending cuts aren't averted."

The Republican Party is in an exceptionally weak position right now and President Obama is using it to his political advantage.

Another Twitterism shown to be incorrect.

Via Time.com

America has long been seen--by its citizens and the world--as the place where anyone can make it. And yet studies from the past two decades all point to a different reality. Economic mobility in the U.S. is low compared with what it was in times past and with current levels in many European countries and Canada. It is particularly sticky at the two ends of the economic ladder. Rich people rarely become poor in a generation--and the poorest seldom get rich. Despite the rags-to-riches myth, such stories are the exception. A comprehensive study by the Pew Economic Mobility Project documents that in the U.S. today, few poor people become even upper middle class.

That's why President Obama's proposal to expand early-childhood education is vitally important: the idea is to provide high-quality pre-K for 4-year-olds from families whose incomes are at or below 200% of the poverty line--that is at or below $47,000 for a family of four. Children born into poor or dysfunctional families must have pathways up, especially if they have the talent to succeed. And the more we learn about neuroscience, the clearer it becomes that the human brain develops much sooner than we had believed. Early stimulation and education can be highly effective.

Some of the criticism of Obama's program has come from the usual ideological opponents, though this is a program squarely aimed at creating greater equality of opportunity, not outcome. Other critics share his goals but worry about the government's track record in the area. Specifically, they point to Head Start, the long-standing program that provides early education to disadvantaged children. The Department of Health and Human Services released a study of Head Start in 2010, updated in 2012, that concludes that the program's positive effects begin to fade within a few years. This has led many to call it a failure and urge the government not to throw good money after bad.

But critics are jumping to conclusions about a very complicated subject without really understanding the study--or the limitations of social-science research. In a September 2011 paper, three scholars from the University of Chicago and University of California, Davis, painstakingly explained why it is premature to reject Head Start. They note that many factors may have intervened to erode the early gains in scores, including sharp rises in single-parent families, non-English-speaking households and severe health problems like childhood obesity and diabetes. They also noted that early education in public schools has been getting better, a trend that might explain why Head Start kids lose their advantage over non--Head Start kids. Most important, some studies show that though their test scores level out, children who have been through early education do better in their professional lives.

Look at the data from the rest of the world. A 2012 report from the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) concludes that early-childhood education "improves children's cognitive abilities, helps to create a foundation for lifelong learning, makes learning outcomes more equitable, reduces poverty and improves social mobility from generation to generation."

BATF defines a machinegun in the following terms and list some examples of "non-automatic" weapons with in that classification.
"2.1.6 Machinegun. Firearms within the definition of machinegun include weapons that shoot, are
designed to shoot, or can be readily restored to shoot, automatically more than one shot without manual
reloading by a single function of the trigger."

Of all the different firearms defined as NFA weapons, machineguns are the only type where the receiver
of the weapon by itself is an NFA firearm. As a result, it is important that the receiver of a machinegun
be properly identified. Many machineguns incorporate a “split” or “hinged” receiver design so the main
portion of the weapon can be easily separated into upper and lower sections. Additionally, some
machineguns utilize a construction method where the receiver is composed of a number of
subassemblies that are riveted together to form the complete receiver.
The following table lists specific models of machineguns incorporating the above designs and the
portion of the weapon that has been held to be the receiver. This list is not all- inclusive. For
information concerning a split or hinged receiver type machinegun not listed below, contact FTB at
(304) 260-1699.
Model Receiver
Armalite AR10 lower
Armalite AR15 (all variations)

Yet the srmalite comes in a single pull semi-auto.

FYI for Cassy mister gun himself.

KD, I believe BATF over Cassy said...

ATF has also held that the “designed” definition includes those weapons which have not
previously functioned as machineguns but possess design features which facilitate full automatic fire by
simple modification or elimination of existing component parts. ATF has published rulings concerning
specific firearms classified as machineguns based on this interpretation of the term “designed.”15" Batf

Not all Machineguns are fully auto, so says BATF.

"Rob Wiltbank, a gun rights advocate who founded Delaware Open Carry in 2008, told U.S. News he agrees with the vice president that a shotgun would be good for home protection, but he was also troubled by the hypothetical.

“It would be incredibly irresponsible of a gun owner to blindly discharge a firearm into the air,” said Wiltbank. “What goes up, must come down and this specific behavior has been the cause of many negligent homicides over the years.”

Tom Shellenberger, a lawyer who serves as a spokesman for the Delaware State Sportsmen’s Association, told U.S. News that Biden’s security tip was “the worst type of advice.”

"If Biden doesn’t have the common sense to understand any of the above, let alone all of the above, why should anyone trust his efforts to rewrite gun laws that limit our legal rights to self-defense?"

Biden's just another liberal idiot.

U.S. CEO Delivers Smackdown to Lazy French Workers – “Keep Your so-called Workers”

Sounds like union scum of GM UAW.

The CEO of a U.S. tire maker has delivered a crushing summary of how some outsiders view France’s work ethic in a letter saying he would have to be stupid to take over a factory whose staff only put in three hours work a day.

Titan International’s Maurice Taylor, nicknamed “The Grizz” for his negotiating style, told the left-wing French industry minister in a letter published by media on Wednesday that he had no interest in rescuing a plant set for closure.

“The French workforce gets paid high wages but works only three hours. They get one hour for breaks and lunch, talk for three and work for three,” Taylor wrote on February 8 in the letter in English to the minister, Arnaud Montebourg.

“I told this to the French union workers to their faces. They told me that’s the French way!” Taylor added in the letter, which was posted by business daily Les Echos on its website and which the ministry confirmed was genuine.

“Titan is going to buy a Chinese tire company or an Indian one, pay less than one Euro per hour wage and ship all the tires France needs,” he said. “You can keep the so-called workers.”

Socialist President Francois Hollande might take some comfort in Taylor’s view of his own country’s business policies: “The U.S. government is not much better than the French,” he said

Yep, I sell beef, sheep, rabbits (both live and dressed) turkey's and eggs. Also in the summer I truck farm and sell a host of veggies, some uncommon ones, they have the greatest profit margins. Amazing really. All cash on the barrelhead, no checks and no credit cards.

See CJ, unlike you retirement to me means still being productive, eating what I grow/raise and providing a organic product to those around me.

Most of my customers have been so for over 30 years. They refer others to me, and I sometimes have to turn some of them down. I choose who i sell to, if the fit is wrong then they are passed over.

My wife sells greenhouse raised flowers and starter plants of veggies. It is her passion.

Repeating a lie doesn't make it true. We've already been through the parts where police where clearly referring to the AK-47's they found as automatic weapons.

And any rifle that can be held and operated by one man and has a large rate of fire can rightly be called a sub-machine gun.

That differentiates them from the large two-man operated machine guns such as the Browning 50 caliber.
